Country comparison
Pick an indicator and two countries: the tool overlays both series and computes the facts competitors leave out — the year the second economy overtook the first, and today's gap. Export the picture as a PNG or copy a ready-made summary sentence.
Pick two countries and run the comparison.
How to use it
- Choose the indicator, then country A and country B.
- Press Compare: the overtake year and the current multiple appear under the chart.

FAQ
How is the overtake year computed?
Both series are aligned by year with missing years carrying the last published value forward. The overtake year is the first year B's value rises above A's after sitting at or below it.
What if the two lines never cross?
The summary says so explicitly — you get the leader and the gap instead of a forced crossover date.
Which indicator should I start with?
GDP is the classic: compare China and Japan and the chart shows the 1980s–2000s handover in one look.
